Thank You

The Faculty of Education at Lakehead University’s Orillia campus would like to thank all of the Principals and Associate Teachers who have graciously agreed to participate in the compulsory Practice Teaching Placement component of Lakehead University's Bachelor of Education Program.  Each of you provide an invaluable service.

In the upcoming weeks, you will receive an email to confirm the placement of Bachelor of Education student(s) from Lakehead University, Orillia campus in your school, and to provide you with the resources as you prepare to host our student(s) in your classrooms.

This email includes a number of resources for you:
  • The Practicum Handbook for Associate Teachers
  • The Implementation Schedule
  • The Executive Summary - outlines timeline and resources for placement period
  • The Course Syllabus for EDUC 4499 the "Student Practice Teaching" course - which outlines student expectations at key points in placement.
  • The Lesson Plan Template & Guidelines
In preparation for our B.Ed student's arrival in your school, we would ask that you review the attachments within this email for specific details and requirements.

Please distribute this information to the participating associate teacher(s) in your school.
Also, please confirm receipt of this placement package to Julie Howell at: jhowell@lakeheadu.ca .

We anticipate that our Student Teachers and their Faculty Advisors will soon reach out to you, to introduce themselves and acquire any school specific policy or protocol, in time for their arrival at your school on November 10th, 2014.

Thank you in advance for your participation and cooperation in support of our Bachelor of Education Program.

Regards,

Julie Howell

NEW Direct Deposit Honorarium Option 2014-2015

For those associate teachers returning for placements this upcoming year, and are interested in this option, we have uploaded a "direct deposit banking form" under "Associate Teacher Resources You Need", found in the left navigation pane of this website.

We appreciate that it is still quite early but this will give the Accounts Office time to process the forms in time for the November 2014 payments.

This will hopefully make the honorarium dispensing more efficient and will eliminate those lost cheques in the mail.

There is an option on the form, if you wish, to provide your email and you will then be notified once the deposit has been made (typically after the placement ends).  If you are interested please complete the attached form and send directly to our Accounts Office.

If you still prefer to receive a printed cheque by mail you do not have to do anything.
